Aztecs Juniors under 10’s came runners up in tournament over Christmas
In the group stages of the Xmas tournament at DW Sports Powerdome, Ashbourne won 4 games and drew 2, with goals coming from Elliot Murray, Joe Reed, Lee Cranstone and Matthew Pepper. Finishing second in the group stages meant Aztecs played 3rd place Derwent, and first place Mickleover played 4th Pride Park juniors. Ashbourne won comfortably in the semi final 3-0 with a hatrick from
Elliot Murray and some excellent defending from Jack Bill and William Topham. Mickleover won their semi on penalties and Aztecs went into the final bright, as Ashbourne had already beaten Mickleover 1-0 in the group stages. Despite this, Ashbourne were faced with some injury problems when Matthew Pepper and Will Topham both had to come off. Ashbourne had no subs left and Mickleover took the advantage. Mickleover’s goalkeeper denied Ashbourne some great shots and unfortunately the game ended Ashbourne 0 - 2 Mickleover sports.
